Drumming Group
In the Music Therapy drumming group people living with ABIs are provided enabling opportunities to use rhythm as a form of rehabilitation. Rhythm is used therapeutically for issues associated with movement, cognition, speech and emotional regulation and expression.
This group focuses on the use of rhythm to increase mood and wellbeing and provides a space to explore and share different emotions. The Drumming Group provides a safe and motivational space to build meaningful connections with others.
Techniques include: learning rhythms, taking leadership roles to lead others in rhythms, drum placement to encourage specific fine or gross motor skills, improvisation and identifying emotions that can explored through shared drumming practices.
